| Two significant research articles record the effectiveness of Chiropractic Care in lowering high blood pressure. The first research article (JMPT 1988 (Aug);11(4):261-266) reported a 10 to 20 mm (points) drop in blood pressure. The second article (J. Hum. Hyperten.2007(May);21(5):347–352) found similar results. The researchers commented that the reduction in blood pressure was similar to the use of two-drug combination therapy. That means that the decrease in blood pressure is equal to the effects of 2 different high blood presssure prescription drugs taken at the same time. We see results like these in our office all the time. Many patients end up going back to thier medical doctors and getting off thier drugs. It is important to note that the purpose of chiropractic is not to "treat" high blood pressure nor any disease. The doctors in these studies examined the patients for nerve irritation and they worked on removing that. Once that nerve interference is gone, the body can control and regulate itself. The nervous system controls and regulates your body. Be sure to have your nervous system and your family's checked periodicly by a Chiropractor. Dr. Tarek |
